Operations Manager
Schenck Farms and Greenhouses Co. has consistently remained a key contributor to the floral industry and the City of St. Catharines since it was established it in 1891. Today, the site is populated with an impressive cluster of greenhouses. It holds 420,000 square feet of greenhouse space growing: Begonias; Kalanchoes; Geranium cuttings and a variety of floral products. Schenck Farms & Greenhouses remains a family business, passed down from a generation of pride and experience.
Our Greenhouse Operations Manager leads day-to-day operations focusing on the production and shipping of potted plants, cuttings and bedding plants, ensuring the safe and efficient workflow of Teammates and products. The Operations Manager ensures quality and productivity goals are met by motivating, coaching and training the greenhouse team, improving overall productivity and performance.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Oversite of daily operations, ensuring products are picked, packaged and shipped to meet customer requirements and company quality standards. Quickly and effectively troubleshooting issues to keep scheduled production.
- Facilitating daily meetings with greenhouse leads and growers to review and develop plans for allocation of Teammates to meet production needs.
- Motivating a diverse team (foreign and local) to reach individual and company objectives.
- Ensuring all company policies, health and safety procedures and standards are met.
- Work with owners/management to develop labour budgeting throughout the year.
- Partners with the labour analyst to ensure incentive procedures are recorded, tracked and displayed for Teammates.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Agriculture or Business.
- 3 - 6 years' experience of operational management experience or related supervisory experience. Experience in greenhouse operations is a definite asset.
- Able to work independently as well as lead and motivate a team through high demand periods.
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Available to work Monday to Friday with weekend work required.
- Valid driver's license

Pay: Competitive and dependent on relevant and length of experience
